BAA IS GOLFING FOR 'GEORGIE'

BAA's Greg Ward presents over £13,000 to Georgie's Fund trustees, Maria Gardner, Sally Barrett, Tania Hayhoe and Angela Capon
BAA Heathrow's Logistics Team helped raise a record £13,000 for children's charity 'Georgie's Fund' by staging a Golf Day and dinner on May 11 2006
at the Laleham Golf Club. More than 80 contractors, who carry out maintenance for BAA, joined airport staff in the competition.
Greg Ward, Logistics Transition Leader said "I am really proud to have been involved in a charity event where we raised such a staggering amount for Georgie's Fund
helping them purchase a much needed piece of equipment for vital reserch." The money raised from this event will help to provide the Royal Marsden Hospital with a portable
echocardiogram for the children's cancer ward. The money was raised with the help of local companies who donated raffle and auction prizes as well as sponsoring holes and assisting
on the day.
Georgie's Fund has been set up in memory of a dear little boy George Hayhoe who lost his battle against Neuroblastoma on 21st January 2004 aged just eight years old. Georgie's story has been
written by his Mum, it is a moving account of Georgie's short life. The goal of the fund is to raise as much money as possible in Georgie's name to fund research that will lead to a cure and new treatments
for Neuroblastoma.
Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive childhood cancer diagnosed in around 100 children in the UK each year. Once diagnosed the survival rate is one in five. There is NO government funded research into
this disease. Further information on the charity can be found at www.georgies-fund.com
