A CHARITY is offering people the chance to make money and appear on television while de-cluttering their home.
Georgie's Fund, an Addlestone-based charity for children with cancer, is looking for a family to appear in a home makeover show. Produced by Reef Television
an upcoming programme will visit a clutter-filled home to revamp or sell unwanted items. Any cash raised is split evenly between the host family and the charity.
Georgie's Fund was set up in February 2004 in memory of George Hayhoe, from Addlestone, who died from neuroblastoma. It raises money towards a cure for the aggressive
cancer. Nina Newington, a teacher from Windlesham and Georgie's aunt, is a trustee of the charity. She said: "The TV company wants to help a family recycle,
refurbish and repair their clutter and raise some cash that will be shared between the family involved and Georgie's Fund. Ideally, the more clutter you have the better. Anything
from antiques and collectibles to unused household items like furniture and toys can be considered. They'll be selling items through local dealers, newspaper ads, salvage merchants and a house sale.
They are not just looking at auctions but are broadening the market." She added that the charity was well worth supporting, saying: "We are helping families with children who have cancer
and helping to improve their lives. It's a good cause we support local hospitals and local families as well. In addition, this is a chance to get on TV and make some money for yourself
and, hopefully, you'll get a lot of satisfaction from it."
The charity is also keeping it's fingers crossed for Georgie's Mum Tania, who has been nominated for the Fairy's Helping Hands Award, a national award judged by Gail Porter, Harriet Scott from Heart radio station and
the editor of Woman. The winner will be announced on Tuesday January 22. Anyone interested in taking up the offer from Georgie's Fund should contact
