Chairperson

I have worked in a special needs unit of Darley Dene infant school in Addlestone for the past 4 years and am mum to Jack who is 17. Husband Peter makes up our family. I have been a school governor for Ongar Place infants which was Georgie's first school for 5 years.

Since Georgie's diagnosis in April 1999 I have done small things for charities we were directly involved with. After George died I didn't know what to do. I still wanted to raise awareness and funding to try to find a cure for this terrible disease.

My very enthusiastic friends persuaded me that we could do this by setting up a charity in Georgie's memory and that is how Georgie's Fund began!

I was appointed as a somewhat reluctant and very nervous chairperson... I had no idea about the workings of a charity and so far it is keeping me very busy!

I am so grateful to all our family and friends who are getting involved and helping us. There are friends old and new coming up with ideas from bike rides to donations in lieu of birthday or wedding gifts and sponsored slims. A grandaughter of a very close friend is now busy arranging 'mufti' days at her and her brother's schools as she is determind to raise money to help children like Georgie.

If we were lucky enough to still have our wonderful son, this would still be happening as we wanted to give something back to all the organisations that helped us.

I would like to thank all our supporters and donators and if anyone wants to help in any way please contact me or any of our trustees.
