PEASMARSH magician Richie Austin has raised more than £1,000 to help sick children by holding a charity show. Richie lost his niece Gemma
to the rare childhood disease neuroblastoma. The money raised from the show, at the White Rock Theatre, will go to Georgie's Fund - a charity that supports research into the condition.
Richie said "Although we have yet to receive the money from the White Rock from ticket sales, we are looking at over
£1,000 to be given to the charity in memory of our little Gemma, which in this financial climate is a massive success. This brings our fundraising for the charity up to
£7,000. Putting on the show was by far one of the toughest challenges I have been involved in. The show was done on a non-existent budget, that is why local support was
so important to us. Without the support of Jempsoms superstores, Arrow FM, Priory Meadow, the White Rock and the Observer we would never have been able to do it.
With the help of guest compare Cbeebies Sid Sloane we put on a fantastic night of magical entertainment.
Even though this year I will be flying off to perform abroad, I will continue to raise funds for neuroblastoma research in memory of Gemma and am looking at another show
next year to raise some more funds for research.
