Lynne and I (Tania) were accompanied by some good friends to the musical evening by
‘Reflect’.
The venue was superb and, although it held around 100 people, still remained quite intimate. ‘ Reflect’ performed a number of well known songs by Katie Melua, Alanis Morrisette, Tina Turner, Alicia Keys and Eva Cassidy.
Charlene (vocals) and Lauren (keyboard) also performed John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ which was brilliant. Chris (drums) and Andy (Guitar) were the perfect accompaniment. They were all very together and looked as though they were enjoying the
evening as much as the audience. It was hard to believe this was the group’s first live performance!
They were fantastic and extremely professional. When I said a few words during the interval my knees were knocking….it was pretty scary on that stage and I will always be in awe of those that perform so well.
After the interval Charlene introduced a song that the group had chosen to dedicate to George and although we had known they were going to do this, we did not know
which song they were going to choose so they were unaware that their choice of ‘Over the Rainbow’ as sung by Eva Cassidy was one of his favourite songs! George loved listening to Eva as he said she relaxed him. It was very emotional as we heard
Lauren play the first keys and Charlene sang it beautifully. It was a very fitting tribute.
Other than our huge thanks to the group there are some special thank yous to all those who helped to organise the evening and the work that went into helping make it such a success. Our thanks to the families and friends of ‘Reflect’ who have
supported and helped to promote the event and giving their support to Georgies Fund. A special thank you also goes to Angie who donated a very generous amount after winning the ‘raffle’. It is very much appreciated.
We all wish Charlene, Lauren, Chris and Andy the best success in their musical career and we are very much looking forward to their next gig…..
