Patsy Lelliott Chairwoman and Founder Member of 'The Professional Ladies Club'
|
|
On the 22nd March 2005, Georgie's Fund was invited to meet the ladies of the PLC (Professional Ladies Club) at the Savoy on The Strand.
We were invited by Patsy Lelliott the current chair and founder of PLC to
give a brief presentation on Georgie's Fund as we are their chosen charity of the year to fundraise for.
Four of our trustees attended, Lynne, Angela, Maria and Sally, we set off 10.30ish to arrive for 12.30, the traffic was pretty horrendous we pulled up right outside the main entrance of The Savoy at around 12.25pm and were met
by a very cheery doorman who told us we could leave the car with him until we returned.

Table Setting at The Savoy

We arrived at The Pinafore Room with moments to spare! We were due to make our presentation after the ladies had had their AGM. We were equipped with, laptop, projector and screen and lots of leaflets and badges.
Patsy Lelliott greeted us when we arrived and immediatley we felt at ease and extremley welcome. What a lovely lady! Patsy worked very hard all afternoon keeping things on track and making sure the ladies were well looked after.
We set up our equipment and then it was time for our Angela to give her presentation.
The presentation went well and Angela did a fantastic job as usual!

The PLC consists of around 120 ladies and has been going for 18 years.
The catalyst for this club was an informal dinner party.
Present at this party was Patsy Lelliott the clubs current chairperson along with two of her friends and their husbands.
The ladies decided, mainly due to the fact that they only attended dinner parties when accompanied by their husbands, to form their own luncheon club.
The ladies meet approximately four times a year. The object of the PLC is to meet socially, have a meal with good friends and raise money for designated charities which are decided upon each year.
To date the PLC have raised over £50,000 distributed between 16 different charities over the past 17 years, a fantastic achievement!

After the presentation the ladies enjoyed a glass of champagne before lunch. We took this opportunity to pack up our equipment and slip into the Beaufort Room where lunch was to be served so that we could put a leaflet
about the charity by each place setting.
The tables were set beautifully and we were very touched to find that they even had green and yellow easter eggs at the place settings which are the Georgie's Fund colours. They were kindly donated by one of the members of the PLC.
The lunch was superb!
We started with smoked salmon which was followed by beef stroganoff followed by pears and sorbet.
|
We were very privelidged to be seated on table one with Patsy and amongst others, the last years charity representatives from 'DEBRA' Edna Kennedy and her partner. Edna was the mother of
Jonny Kennedy from the heartrending channel 4 documentary 'The Boy Who's Skin Fell Off'.
It was lovely to meet Edna, who had travelled down for the day from Newcastle, and we received some great fundraising tips from her and her partner.
We then relaxed with some coffee and chocolate truffles. PLC were also celebrating their 18th birthday and another talented member Ann Gardner made a beautiful cake for the occasion.
