On the 19th July, Georgie's Fund was invited to attend The PLC's Summer Lunch and Hat Show. Four of the trustee's attended along with the newest member of Georgie's Fund
Ella Newington who attended her first 'Ladies' Lunch' aged just 16 weeks! Ella is Georgie's cousin and daughter of Nina our fellow trustee.
Well where do I start! It was a beautiful Summer's day the venue was the lovely house and grounds of Alison Hill, who is the daughter of Ann Gardner organiser of the days events and a member of The PLC.
On arrival at the lunch we were welcomed with a refreshing glass of Pimms served by some of the ladies husbands, who did a sterling job as barmen for the afternoon. Just before lunch Louise Hill, Ann's grandaughter did a recital from Cats on the piano, it was very good and brought back some memories to Nina of when she had taken Georgie to see Cats up in London.
The lunch was delicious, fresh salmon, chicken coronation with mangos, coleslaw and array of other salads.
This was followed by a choice of three yummie puddings! After the meal our Angela did a presentation to the ladies to give them a bit of background about Georgie's Fund. Ang did a great job as usual!
After that we were treated to a talk on hats with a brief history of where they came from by Ann with some very funny stories thrown in. We were then invited to try on some of the hats, there was a fantastic selection there, Ann really has the knack for fitting the right hat to the right person.
Ann had also made a beautiful cake for the occasion with our logo on! She really is a very talented lady! Neen was invited to cut the cake, it seemed a shame to spoil such a work of art.
The afternoon was all to quickly over, it had been a perfect way to spend a Summers afternoon. Thank-you to all the ladies that attended and for all the fundraising that they continue to do for us.
A VERY big thank-you to Alison and Ann for organising such a successful day...
