About Us Meet Our Trustees |
TreasurerHi, I'm Maria and am married to Nigel. I have 2 sons, Dan (17) and Luke (16) and I have known Pete, Tania and Jack since my son Daniel and Jack started school together. They seemed to hit it off from the very first day and became best friends. They had been born on the very same day in the same hospital but our paths had not crossed before! George was born the next year and we knew and loved him from the day he was born. When George became ill it was inevitable that Jack spent a great deal of time with us and became one of the family. We shared the ups and downs of George's illness with the family but could do very little to help, except be there for them, especially Jack. In George's last weeks of life we became extremely close, trying to support Pete, Tania and Jack and when George passed away we created Georgie's Fund in his memory in the hope that we could prevent other children in the future from this terrible disease by funding research into new treatments and a cure. As I work for HSBC bank it seemed inevitable that I should become the treasurer! George was a very special and brave little boy (as I am sure you have seen by reading his story) who will live in our hearts forever.
