Charlotte
Charlotte was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma just after her first birthday.

She was first mis-diagnosed just before she was due to go on a family holiday. They were told to go away and enjoy themselves as they were neurotic parents, and nothing was wrong. The holiday was a nightmare Charlotte screamed all the time and had to be soothed with calpol, to get her to sleep. They returned home early and went straight to the Emergency Doctor, she agreed that something was badly wrong and they went straight to the Hospital at Preston where she was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Four days later, Charlotte had a Lumbar-puncture and then was rushed for an MRI scan, they then got told the news she had NB. They were taken to Manchester Children's Hospital. The next morning after sorting out her protocol, they were told Charlotte had just a 10% chance of survival they immediatley started chemo to shrink the mass, then she had a long operation to remove what they could, on recovering she had more chemo and radiotheropy and then after another 12 months of treatment Charlotte had her own stem cells transplanted.

At 4 1/2 years old her parents were told that Charlotte would never walk. Charlotte is now 12 years old and despite some physical problems from the treatment she had, she attends main stream school and enjoys horse riding and dancing, Charlotte is now waiting to have a rod inserted along her spine to help to keep it straight.

I think you will agree that Charlotte's bravery and determination is an inspiration to us all.
