Longacres Christmas Raffle

On the 25th Novemember Longacres Nursery held it's annual Christmas raffle for charity and this year their chosen charity was The Neuroblastoma Society. From Saturday 20th November Georgie's Fund's family and friends manned the raffle tickets stand at Longacres in a bid to raise as much money as we could for the charity.

We were serenaded by the robotic Santa's throughout our stay singing Carols. It was lovely to watch the faces of the little children some dancing, some spellbound by the Santa's in action. The raffle prizes had all been kindly donated by suppliers to Longacres and Longacres themselves. There were over 20 prizes! The prizes were amazing! Which is probably why we sold so many tickets.

There were hampers of luxury foods, toys and chocolates, the first prize was a beautiful arbour garden seat. The 15th prize was the hugest teddies you've ever seen! There were some exquisite bouquets of fresh flowers complete with diamonte in the center of the flowers. These were put together by the talented Longacres florists which showed why they have such an excellent reputation. They are also able to boast at having one of the largest cut flower departments in the whole country!

Longacres is a family run business and is one of the largest garden centre outlets in the South East. We were well looked after during our five days there, the staff were very friendly and helpful, many of them buying raffle tickets themselves. The atmosphere was great, we met some lovely people during our stay.

We'd like to say a huge thanks to Nigel Long who is part of the family that own Longacres for supporting The Neuroblastoma Society and Georgie's Fund and also to Nicky who organised us and kept us supplied with tea and coffee and generally made sure everything ran like clockwork.

The raffle was drawn on Thursday evening which was Longacres 10% discount night. It was packed!! There was a band playing, free wine for the customers and the Brownies were Carol singing. The Brownies kindly donated their collection money to The Neuroblastoma Society for which we are extremley grateful.

We could barely keep up with selling the raffle tickets, everyone wanted them! The raffle was drawn at 8pm by Lynne Christian who is a trustee of both The Neuroblastoma Society and Georgie's Fund and is also Georgie's grandmother.

We raised over the five days a fantastic £2,400! Thank-you to everyone that helped manning the raffle ticket stand and all the staff and customers at Longacres for buying the tickets. We had a great time and made some good friends.
