Jay lives in Melbourne, Australia and is a 12 year old boy with Neuroblastoma.

His life started as a healthy baby boy, but as time went on became sick with involved many visits to the doctor. Then one day his left left arm and left leg would not work and a little bump on his back grew twice as big in just a few hours. Jay's mum took him to hospital and finally a surgeon came in and said he was to have a biopsy to see what it was. After many mis-diagnoses they eventually were told he had Neuroblastoma.

Jay's tumor had started in his chest and invaded his entire body, wrapping itself around his aorta, spinal cord, adrenal glands, abutted his heart, kidneys, went all throughout his abdomen and back through his spine and out of his back.

Jay was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4 & given a 10% chance of survival & 2-3 months to live. He was put onto many drugs - Cyclophosphamide - Cytoxin - Doxorubicin - Adrimycin - VP16 - Cinsplatin - Vincristine & steroids - urine catecholomines - lumbar punctures - spinal taps - bone marrow apirations.

Jay's journey with cancer has taken up his entire life, but it has taught him a lot of things and one is that you never give up, you fight the fight, and you make the most of every single day and you treasure every moment. PAIN is TEMPORARY - QUITTING is FOREVER, and he is not a quitter he is a SURVIVOR!

His life has been consumed with hospital and doctors appointments. He is 12 years old, an age doctors said he would never make it to, he does still have a mass which sits on his SPINE at T-11 & T-12 but as he says he has to get on with life. The mass which sits there is in an inoperable position (meaning it cannot be removed it is far to dangerous to try to remove it) so it sits there just like having a time bomb inside him not knowing if it will explode. Jay says he can't think about what might happen, he has to get on with his life and enjoy every minute!

His motto is: You only have one life and you must make the most of it!

Jay is a real inspiration to us all, he fights tirelssly in Australia to publicisise NB and has won many awards, and is regularly in the newspapers. He really is an amazing young man! Please visit his website for the full information on Jay's Journey.
