After a busy week of last minute preparations the big day finally arrived! We as the organisers were more than a little
nervous of our first event in Georgie's name, but we needn't have worried.
Thanks to the fantastic support and generosity of our friends and family we had a superb night and for that we thank them
all from the bottom of our hearts!
Without the support and generosity of these special people this night would not have been a success.
There were around 350 of our friends and family that turned up to support us.
The evening was started with the B17's they were great! They got everyone up and dancing as you can see from
the photo's, there was jiving and jitter bugging going on to name but a few of the dances. The atmosphere was fantastic.
We then had the auction which was officiated by David........BOY WAS HE GOOD......... he had people parting with their money left
right and centre! Mind you, we did have some FANTASTIC items to auction on the night thanks to the generosity of our donators.
We even had some last
minute items arrive including a bottle of Chardonnay, signed tee-shirt, signed DVD of the full series of Footballers Wives and signed photo's of Susie Amy who
plays Chardonnay Lane and Zoe Lucker who plays Tanya Laslett, these were kindly donated by Susie Amy and acquired for us by Mark.
We would like to say a special thank-you to Mark Beard, he has been amazing and supplied us with a seemingly never ending stream of items to auction and raffle!
After the excitement of the auction in which the top item a signed Chelsea shirt from this season went for £250 we had the raffle. We collected just short of
£800 on the raffle. Can you believe that!!
Now we were ready for the main event of the evening .......WINGSPAN.......... they were very good and again got people up dancing. We were treated to all the hits
of Paul McCartney and Wings. Wingspan and the B17's appeared for us free of charge for which we are extremely grateful.
All to soon the evening was over. Everyone had a good night and lots of money was raised. Infact we can reveal that well over £4000 was raised, which will be split in this instance
between Christopher's Hospice and the Neuroblastoma Society.
Georgie's Family were very touched by the amount of people that turned up to show their support including nurses from St Peters and staff at Christophers that had cared for Georgie.
This evening was in memory of George Hayhoe and I think we did him proud.
