FASBAT - Musical Quiz night with a difference

In 2008 we were approached by FASBAT (Find a space a be a Tree) a local musical theatre company who offered to host an evening for GF. The idea was to have a musical quiz night whereby the members of FASBAT acted or sang sections from famous musicals or shows. The audience then had to answer questions associated to the musical.

Around 80 people came along to participate and got into their various noisy groups. The FASBAT team were brilliant and so very enthusiastic. We even had a beat the clock section (if anyone can remember that from the 60's) with the team leaders from the audience participating on the stage. There were raffle prizes kindly donated by 'Jacqueline Interiors of Ascot', Sainsbury's of Bracknell and a very kind lady who remains anonymous. What a fun night it was with lots of banter between the audience and the players. The winners walked away with a few bottles of alcohol and GF raised £600 during the evening. GF thank FASBAT for such a great evening and for their support to the charity. It is very much appreciated and we all enjoyed having such a good time while raising funds for research into neuroblastoma.

BRIDGE HOUSE AT MAGNA CARTA SCHOOL - in Staines raising funds for Georgies Fund

Recently I went to talk to the Bridge House students at Magna Carta school about Neuroblastoma and Georgies Fund as they had very kindly chose the GF charity to raise funds for during 2008.

During 2008 they had a very successful time selling our wrist bands and pin badges along with projects such as cake making to sell to the students. In December I went back to collect a marvelous cheque from the students at their morning assembly. They were very enthusiastic to hear about how we use the donations we receive and I explained that the majority of funds are donated to the Neuroblastoma Society for UK research into a cure for neuroblastoma, but that we also have many on going projects for children who have been diagnosed with the disease. I thanked Bridge House for choosing GF and also the staff for their support over the last year. At the end of assembly I was presented with a marvelous cheque by the Deputy Head Ian Pedler, and House Captains Joseph Penfold and Frances Moullen.

Georgies Fund thank the students of Bridge House for their brilliant fund raising efforts. It is very much appreciated.
