After learning that my friend Neil's daughter Samantha Hughes was fighting a rare childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma, I wanted to help in anyway that I possibly could.
Samantha is a beautiful girl and never stops smiling, no matter what life throws at her and is truly an inspiration to us all. As a close friend of the family I would like to join them in raising the profile of this nasty disease which affects under 100 children in the UK each year, which is why I ran
the Flora Lonodon Marathon.
A big thank-you to all of you that sponsored me and for all your messages of support they really touched me and kept me going through the last four months of training. It was such an amazing experience running the marathon the support the crowd gives you really keeps you going. I felt really good until about 20 miles. The last 6 miles were really tough and the
finish line was a really welcome sight! All the pain was worth it and I would encourage anyone who was thinking of running to really go for it! I will sign off now with a really big thank-you to you all.
Thanks to your generosity over £2000 was raised for Georgie's fund!
Felicity's Marathon
Felicity Evans a local school teacher also competed in this years Flora London Marathon. Felicity chose to run for a few charities and Georgie's Fund was one of them. Georgie's Fund was suggested to Felicity by one of her pupils.
Felicity completed the marathon in 4 hours 28 minutes which was a great time and she raised a fantastic £320 for us in the process.
Well done Felicity and a big thank-you to you and all your sponsors!

Andy's Almost Marathon
|
As you may remember Andy Cryer was going to run this years London Marathon for us but he was forced to pull out last minute due to a knee injury. Despite this many of Andy's sponsors still gave the money they pledged and as a result Andy raised just under £1000!
£500 of this was donated by the clients and staff at Woodham and New Haw Day Centre. They invited me and Andy along to lunch to receive a cheque from the manager Margaret Hayes.

There were around 100 guests at the lunch and I had a fanatstic time talking to some of the people. As Andy had to pull out this year from the marathon he will get an automatic place in next years and he is still keen to run for Georgie's Fund!
Thank-you so much to all Andy's sponsors especially the lovely folk at Woodham and New Haw Day Centre who made me feel so welcome.
